Title X Regulations: Key Policy Changes
The Trump Administration has released final regulations for the Title X Family Planning Program. These regulations will:
- Allow any Title X-funded entity to offer only a single family planning method such as natural family planning or abstinence, instead of providing a broad range of medically approved birth control methods.
- Impose new rules around treating teens that will interfere with the patient/provider relationship and deter teens from getting the care they want and need.
- Stop health care providers from giving women complete information about all of their pregnancy options, including abortion, even if a woman asks for a referral.
- Force Title X entities to physically and financially separate themselves from any services that provide, or advocate for, abortion.
- Create unnecessary and costly administrative burdens on Title X providers, diverting resources from direct patient care.
- Change the Title X program’s definition of “low-income” to include women who have been denied contraceptive coverage by their employers for religious or moral reasons.
