What will you learn?

Objections to screening and treatment of addiction are common, and stigma against people with addiction is widespread. It is the role of health care professionals, including family planning providers, to ensure that addiction is compassionately identified and to provide evidence-based treatment comparable to other medical issues.

This session will identify common barriers faced by providers who integrate screening and treatment for patients with substance use disorders as a standardized component of providing quality care. Evidence-based strategies to address common challenges and objections will also be presented.

After this live webinar participants will be able to:

  • Discuss four common objections to substance use disorder screening and treatment, including Medication Assisted Treatment
  • Share evidence-based strategies for navigating and overcoming objections to substance use disorder services
  • Identify one change that family planning and primary care providers can make to implement and improve the delivery of substance use disorder screening or treatment within their practices
