Speakers:
Lin-Fan Wang, MD (she/her pronouns) is Chief Medical Officer at FOLX Health, a queer and trans telemedicine start-up.

Mx. Billy Parker is a clinical social worker and former Program Manager of Einstein Healthcare Network's PRIDE Program and most recently served as the Gender Affirming Care Service Coordinator for Planned Parenthood Southeastern PA.

Overview:
Many transgender and nonbinary patients delay seeking medical care or do not receive appropriate preventive health care due to fear of or actual experience with discrimination, harassment, stigma, and violence. Delays in care can impact health outcomes and exacerbate existing conditions. This presentation will provide an overview of the preventive health care needs of transgender and gender nonbinary patients, as well as potential barriers with preventive health screenings based on a patient’s reproductive organs, rather than their unique health needs and circumstances. The speakers will provide practical tips and strategies for providing affirming sexual and reproductive health physical exams, rooted in a client-centered and trauma-informed care approach.
