What will you learn?

The spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in California and throughout the United States has created widespread and unprecedented challenges for our entire health system, including family planning service sites.

This session will review the epidemiology of the virus, its consequences, and strategies for reducing and preventing infection. Current guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding treating patients who present with acute respiratory symptoms will be presented. Strategies for managing the impacts of the virus on the healthcare workforce, clinic management and family planning service delivery will also be discussed.

After this live webinar participants will be able to:

  • Identify evidence-based guidelines to inform protocols for addressing patients presenting with an acute respiratory infection
  • Describe what should be included in COVID-19 family planning clinic protocols to adapt to workforce changes and improve efficiencies
  • Implement operational strategies to manage staff exposure to COVID-19
  • Identify resources for up-to-date data about COVID-19 to inform clinical practices and procedures
