Enhancing Provider Counseling Skills for Patient-Delivered Partner Therapy Implementation

Patient-delivered partner therapy (PDPT) is the clinical practice of treating the sex partners of patients diagnosed with a treatable sexually transmitted disease without the health care provider first examining the partner. This live webinar will focus on enhancing provider knowledge, skills, and comfort in effectively counseling patients testing positive for chlamydia and gonorrhea about PDPT. Participants will receive a brief overview of PDPT as well as detailed information on counseling approaches, and case studies to support health center staff with implementation. The session will also highlight Essential Access Health’s newly developed resource, Patient-Delivered Partner Therapy: A Counseling Guide for Providers.

- Explain the importance of partner management
- Determine when PDPT is an appropriate partner management option for the patient
