Statement by Julie Rabinovitz, President + CEO, Essential Access Health

“Today’s Supreme Court decision to dismiss the Title X challenges before the Court, is a huge victory for patients served by our nation’s family planning program. The decision is a critical step toward restoring Title X’s mandate to provide a pathway for low-income individuals to receive comprehensive and evidence-based health care like birth control, STI testing and prevention, and unbiased pregnancy options counseling.

“Relief can’t come soon enough for the millions of low-income and uninsured patients who depend on Title X for essential health care across the country. The regulations establish a two-tiered health system and dictate a lower standard of care for low-income patients - disproportionately impacting women of color and people living in rural communities.

“We are hopeful that the Department of Health and Human Services will move swiftly to release a Final Rule so we can begin to rebuild our family planning safety-net, and once again ensure that Title X patients get the information and health care they want and need – with dignity and respect.”
