LOS ANGELES, CA — Today, Essential Access Health received its Title X Notice of Award from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, providing level funding for one year to support the continuation of critical reproductive healthcare in California and Hawaii.
The funding comes after a period of nationwide uncertainty, as delays in the federal award process raised serious concerns about potential disruptions in care.
“While we are encouraged to see funding move forward, the recent delays have underscored the instability of federal family planning funding,” said Dr. Nomsa Khalfani, CEO of Essential Access Health. “Title X remains the only dedicated federal program for reproductive healthcare. We need a nationwide comprehensive sexual and reproductive healthcare program that is strong, reliable, and accessible to all — one that meets the evolving needs of our communities nationwide. Gaps in care have real and immediate public health consequences.”
Looking ahead, continued uncertainty and changes to program requirements could further challenge providers’ ability to deliver equitable, consistent reproductive healthcare. A stable and accessible Title X program is critical to ensuring continuity of care for millions of people nationwide.
